Hey, let’s chat about your privacy.
We actually care about your privacy just as much as we care about helping you build your wealth, so we’ve written this Privacy Policy in plain English, because life’s too short for legal jargon.
We’re Tap the Gap Pty Ltd ABN 70 678 735 638, and we’re on a mission to close the gender wealth gap one tap at a time. We’re also licensed to provide financial services (AFSL 700022) because our app and offering associates with your superannuation products.
By using our app or website, you’re agreeing to how we handle your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

What info we need and why
To help you build wealth while you shop, through Round-Ups and Brand Bonuses, and to use tools like our calculators to help you figure out your goals, we need some information about you. We only collect what we actually need to provide the services, including your:
name, email, phone, date of birth, and address (super funds need this);
BPAY biller code and reference number for your super fund so we can pay into your super;
linked payment cards (we don’t store the full details); and
transaction info through open banking feeds, which show us transaction values, spend locations and names of retailers.
We also collect some information about you relating to your use of the website and/or app, including:
how you use our app (what works, what doesn’t);
your device info and location (only if you let us); and
cookies to remember your preferences.
How we get your information
When you sign up, we collect as much of the above information from you as possible, including your personal details, contact information, BPAY biller code and reference number for your super fund, and details of your linked cards.
Some information we are unable to collect directly from you, so we collect and/or verify some information through third parties including your super fund, retail shopping partiers, and payment processors.
The information relating to your use of the website or app, is automatically collected during your use of the website or app.
What we do with your information
We take your privacy seriously, so we only collect and use your personal information to be able to:
process your round-up and brand bonuses, and process corresponding super contributions;
help you track your additional wealth-building contributions into your super fund; and
send you notifications about earnings and provide you with spending insights;
provide you with educational content about super and investing;
share updates about new partner offers or important service announcements;
improve our app and website, and prevent fraud and keep things secure;
meet our legal obligations as a financial services provider;
send you direct marketing materials and tell you about relevant offers including from partners; and
share success stories from our community.
For marketing materials, offers or community stories, you can opt out anytime by simply hitting ‘unsubscribe’. After you unsubscribe, you will still be able to access and explore live offers on the app.
Who we share information with
We’re fairly selective about who we share your information with, and we do it, only when necessary for the provision of the services to you. Third parties who we may share your personal information can include:
your super fund (to make contributions); payment processors (for secure transactions);
our retail partners (only what’s needed for Brand Bonuses);
professional advisers including lawyers, accountants, IT providers and technology personnel;
customer service platforms as applicable;
ASIC, ATO and other regulators or government agencies; and Courts (if legally required).
We don’t sell your information to random companies. That’s not our vibe.
Sending information overseas
Some of the service providers we work with are based overseas, including in the United States. This means your personal information may be disclosed to, or stored by, recipients located in that country. Before we disclose your information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure the overseas recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. If the countries we disclose to change, we will update this Privacy Policy.
Keeping your information safe
We use bank-level security including encryption for sensitive data, multi-factor authentication, regular security updates and staff training on privacy and security. Some other operational measures we use include regular staff training, data handling procedures and policies, access controls and regular review and audit practices. Your payment details are handled by secure, certified processors, and we never see or store your full card numbers.
Just a reminder that no system is 100% secure. If a data breach happens, we will act quickly to contain it and assess what has occurred. If we believe the breach is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as soon as practicable, in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We will explain what happened, what information was involved, and the steps you can take to protect yourself.
Your rights

See your information: You can ask us about the information we have about you
Fix mistakes: You can tell us if anything within the information is wrong and we’ll correct it
Opt out: You can unsubscribe from marketing anytime, no questions asked
Delete your account: You can request that we remove your info (except what we legally need to be kept)
Complain: You can contact us if you’re not happy with how we handle your personal information
How long we keep your information
While you’re using our service, we will keep whatever information we need to provide the service. However, after you stop using the website and app, we will only retain certain records as required by law, including:
Financial records for 7 years (tax law requirement)
General account info for 7 years
Marketing preferences until you tell us otherwise
Users
Our service is for people who can contribute to their super, including those industrious under 18s who work 30 hours per week or more. Where a user is under 18, we take extra care with their personal information. We will only collect personal information from a young person where they have the capacity to understand and agree to this Privacy Policy, or where a parent or guardian agrees on their behalf, and we handle that information consistently with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Cookies and links to other sites
We use cookies to make our website work properly and to understand how you use it. You can control cookies in your browser settings, but some might be needed for basic functionality. We also might link to partner websites, but please note that this Privacy Policy only covers us. Other sites have their own privacy policies so please read those for more information.
Changes to this policy
If we need to update this policy, we’ll email you about significant changes and give you at least 30 days’ notice. Please be aware that since 10 June 2025 you have had a right under Australian law to take legal action against a person for a serious invasion of your privacy.
